Notes on the examination/treatment
Preparation:
- The most optimal time to perform treatments is from autumn to spring.
- During the qualification visit, the doctor will discuss and plan appropriate treatments, providing information about costs and preparation for the procedure.
Detailed recommendations before the procedure:
- The skin undergoing the treatment cannot be tanned, therefore you should not sunbathe or use self-tanners for 14 days before the treatment.
-
Do not use:
- preparations containing vitamin A (retinol), C, E (1 week before the procedure),
- creams and ointments containing steroids (1 week before the procedure),
- medicines: aspirin, polopiryna, Acard, Polocard and other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid (4 days before the procedure),
- photosensitizing medicines, e.g. antibiotics (10 days before the procedure),
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic ointments such as: Ketonal, Ketoprofen, Ibuprom, Nurofen (4 days before the procedure). - Do not take herbs and dietary supplements containing herbs such as St. John's wort, calendula, horsetail (14 days before the procedure).
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications to the procedure.
- The procedure should not be performed during an active bacterial or viral infection of the skin – including a cold sore! The procedure can be performed after the infection has healed.
- 7 days before the planned treatment, do not perform other exfoliating treatments, such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
- You should not drink alcohol on the last 24 hours before the procedure.
- You should inform the doctor performing the procedure about all medications you are taking, about any tendency to cold sores and about any possible allergy to anesthetics (lignocaine, tetracaine).
Recommendations after the procedure:
- Immediately after the treatment, the treated skin is swollen, red, and warm, and sometimes there is a slight oozing of tissue fluid and blood. A burning sensation, similar to a sunburn, and a tight feeling may also occur, which subsides within the first 24 hours.
- Cooling compresses are applied immediately after the treatment.
- After 2-3 days, swelling and redness subside, and small crusts appear on the skin's surface. These gradually exfoliate over the next 4-5 days. New skin is then revealed, which continues to regenerate deeply over the following weeks. For facial treatments, makeup is strictly contraindicated for 4 days.
- From the first day after the procedure, apply a soothing healing cream (such as Cicalfat or Cicaplast Baume B5, available at the pharmacy or at CM Luxmed) to the skin several times a day for 7-10 days until completely healed. During this period, do not swim in a pool, touch the skin with dirty hands, or scratch off peeling scabs. After the skin has peeled, you can begin using moisturizing and nourishing creams and gradually resume your usual skincare routine. Use day creams with a high SPF of 30+ for six months and then always during the spring and summer months. SPFs protect against photoaging.
